Very well written!!!! WITHOUT PASSION LIFE IS NOTHING

So very true. I was watching our news last night and I'm afraid I didn't find Theresa May's words very comforting to say the least. The thought of what may happen in the very near future is abhorrent to anyone who truly values human life. Those Tunisian beach workers are the sort we should take our example from...not the posturings of those whose lives will never be on the line. ~~Anais Nin~~

But there are no absolutes... "The Rule of Law is the practical expression of the humanity of people". True, but there are those who would seek to impose a different law, one that has draconian implications for 50% of the population of the countries in which they seek to impose it. They aren't interested in our concepts of law, democracy and freedom. "Waterloo was just another in the series of bloody conflicts by which peoples struggled to limit the delusional power of Tyrants, Kings and Emperors". Indeed, but isn't ISIS with their desire to establish a caliphate just another example of tyranny? Isn't it something to be opposed? We might have only joined WW2 because of an alliance with the French, because we sought to safeguard Empire, because we wanted to curtail the rise of Germany as a European power, but we did make a commitment that led to the defeat of fascism (at considerable cost). Standing up to a bully doesn't make you a bigger bully... Realpolitik is dirty business; an ideological approach is good for the conscience but might not get the job done... "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing". And maybe more accurately "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
