Scam, Scam, Everywhere a SCAM....

I take laptop in hand once again as a public service.
No doubt you have heard that the Internet is full of scams.
Well I am here to tell you that this is greatly true.
With great freedom always comes great responsibility!
Now some scams come from where you have always expected them to appear,
IE , Craigslist and Ebay. As I did my research for this post, I was amazed to find that scams also come from other places. Like dating web sites, and any ad you might click on.
I will begin with : Common types of scams :
1) Any ad or page that redirects you or stops you from navigating away from it. Especially to offer you a discount to return.
I fell for one of these Latest Diabetes "cures". (only cost $47). Everytime they sent a new discovery to my email, it was another pitch for something similar for another 50 or 100 dollars.
2) Anyone that asks you to go to a site to be "verified" so they know YOU are real. Usually accompanied with very sexy nude pics and a note saying how much they would like to have you come over and have sex.........after you are verified.
Verification is for the purpose of gathering credit card info and or stealing money with a card or selling this info to a third party to run more scams your way.
3) A longer more elaborate scam in which you and the scammer are "dating" via the internet.
Okay, I fell for this one once, also. I was dating a beautiful 26 year old girl from Sacramento for 3 weeks. Turned out to be a man in Malaysia. Because of your "relationship" you will be asked to wire money for them to travel to you or for some medical emergency.
4) YOU place an ad on a trade site. Someone answers your ad and they are very interested. And they want to send you a Cashier's Check for your floor jack, chupacabra horns, motorcycle, room for rent.........
They send you the check. And surprise! It is for $2,000,00. Not the $800.00 you were asking for. The thief explains that HE is trusting YOU to deposit the check in your account and wire the $1,200.00 to the moving company, Car transport Co., shippers, catering Co.......
As soon as you deposit the rubber check that they paid to overnight to you the clock is running for them. The Thief wins only if he can convince you to send the money by Moneygram or Western Union or Walmart to Walmart before the bank informs you that the check is bad. As soon as you acknowledge that you have deposited this hunk of crap. The thief will message you incessantly with a new sense of urgency.
Now clues to spot a Scam.
1) These are sophisticated, Big Time Scams, with millions of dollars behind them.
So, they have all the window dressing of a legitimate Co.
The clues here are: Your computer not wanting to respond to your control, a very long video that could knock a meth head unconscious, the discount and full money back guarantee. No broken English here!
2) Pictures that look to good (professional). Usually a lot of broken english with wrong gender and tenses. Asking you to prove you are real (verified). Or, just go to this site and after a signup for free membership (no credit card) you can see all of my info, including phone and address and more pics.
3) Men! Stop Drop and Think!
Why would a beautiful young lady just out of college with a nursing degree be prowling the interwebs for a divorced potbellied 50 year old alcoholic?
But I digress...... Massive amounts of broken English, don't appear to answer the questions that you ask but do answer others. Always will not talk on Skype or the phone to you.Why? IT IS A SCAM!!
4) My favourite!
Here we go! They ask if "the item" is still for sale,rent, lease. Their next communication is that they are satisfied with the pics you posted and and the price is fair. Tons of broken English and missing prepositions here! Would like to move forward with the purchase! They can't come to inspect it because they are a U.S. Marine stationed in B.F. Egypt (literally). They will immediately overnight a Cashier's Check to you. And they will. Just dribble it down to an ATM machine near you and deposit that trash! The check will always be for a much greater amount than your price.
NEXT MONTH: I will tell you how I scammed some of these idiots out of time and money

Thought I would post earlier in the month. thereby fulfilling my obligation early this month. The blog I posted on the 20th still does not show on my Activity Bonus Progress Chart. And I am quickly running out of month. Yes of course I emailed them days ago, but still no response. So now I write a blog to let them know that I already wrote a blog. Tedious, isn't it?? Well I apologize to anyone unfortunate enough to be reading this now. But, I don't want to loose the free months I was promised because their computer was having a bad day. So now for that computer's enjoyment alone I will repost the blog post that I previously posted:

How to get items you want or need at an auction (part II)

Now that you know to look at the items you are interested in closely and inspect them for authenticity, value, damage and repairs that will affect the resale price.......
Here are some additional preview essentials.
Begin at the beginning. In other words: start at lot number 1.
I know! The first lot that you want to preview is number 52. But part of your preview work (there is that dirty word again), is to discover treasures hidden in this auction! If there are 300 lots and you only look at the things that grab your attention, guess who else will want it? That's right, everyone else! Especially, Joe and Jane moneybags. Not only do they have more money than you, their motivation is not profit. They are remodeling their summer cottage,by the lake!
Start at number 1 and examine every item in every lot. I can not tell you how many times a box of items on the floor has contained the items that will make the auction profitable! You do not have to spend any time on obvious duds. Just make sure you know what may make that "boring on the surface" lot a winner.
Now to that pencil and paper. If this part is not obvious, here goes: Every lot of interest must be numbered with the lot number in order. Beside that lot must be the maximum bid you will offer.
Of course this will be determined by your research online while examining each lot at the preview (a great place for this is to search Ebay completed auctions for that item). And eventually your own experience.
During the auction, you will note the price of your winning bid and circle it. This way you will be able to quickly estimate the amount that you have spent to this point.
This can be especially handy considering that most auctions are cash only. No running to the ATM.

How to Get Items You want or need at an Auction

I am going to assume that you have seen an auction or two on TV.
Now I am going to tell you the difference between this and the real world.
On a TV show the buyer always finds and acquires things that are interesting or
valuable or both. The operative word here is "show". Now I will tell you about all the work that goes into successful auction buying. This is the part that ends up on the cutting room floor.
First off, let me say that there are generally two motives for buying. There is the buyer who is the end user. "My car needs that part". Or " that would look lovely in our den". They came, they bought, they took it home, the end.
The other buyer is buying to resell at a profit. This is the buyer we will focus on here. Now this person has to consider many factors before taking the item or "lot" home. A "lot" being a group of items. First of all you must consider your bank roll. If these are household items or low value collectibles at a moving or estate auction, $100.00 to $500.00 is a good range depending on what your budget will allow.
There are two kinds of profits. Potential profit and Built in profit. The latter is easy. This is when the items have an intrinsic value. A set of very crude ugly
paper weights may be made of solid brass. You know that brass scrap is going for $1.80 a pound at the local recycler. Pick them up during preview and guess their weight. Guess low. Accuracy comes with experience. Do not forget auction fees and transport costs. When you learn to do this well, you will have money in your pocket before you leave the auction.
Now to the more common type of making a profit an an auction. Earlier I mentioned the preview. In this buying NEVER bid without attending the preview with a pencil, Smart Phone, and paper. A jeweler's loop won't hurt either.
Auctions that are reputable will schedule a preview of all items for sale 1 day to 4 hours in advance of the sale. At the preview you should examine for damage, look for maker marks and check the authenticity of all items you will potentially bid on. The smartphone is handy for checking current values of similar items.

Hey there!
I do not know everything. So I will only write only about things I know about.
Let's say that you heard an ad on radio, or saw it on television, for a new car.
And now you can't live without it!
This car has a price tag of $40,00.00 . Now you talk to the dealer and figure that you can just swing the payment if you put in some overtime every month. This could easily be a prelude to disaster!
But you WANT it! Sooooo.... HERE is the solution:
First you have to realize a few facts. This new car is worth about $35,00.00 the moment it leaves the lot. This is because of this same perception that a car with a few miles on it is somehow woefully inferior to a "new car". But what to do about it?
That's easy, jump the fence! That is, put yourself and your attitude on the proper side of this deal!
It is not your fault that people over-extend themselves financially on a whim. Just don't fall for it yourself. If you really want anything that is a major purchase from a washer to a yacht, simply search the newspaper or online and take advantage of the bargains that can be had , due to the foolishness of others.
