Email Policy Change - Emailing Personal Information

You can now email members with personal information on the first communication.

We've had a long standing policy here that required you to exchange two emails with another member before sharing any personal information like or outside email addresses. This helped cut down on some spam, but a lot of real emails were getting blocked as well. We wanted to make our communication system more useful for you, and let you decide when and what personal information to send.

Don't worry, you can still report Spam and we’ll take care of it. Just hit the "Report Abuse or Sexually Explicit Ads" button inside the email.

Please be very careful if you chose to share your personal information with another member. Consider using our instant messenger to get to know one another member before disclosing your phone number, address, or email. Be safe, and have fun!

At the bottom of your email there is a box to check to save a copy of your sent email. You MUST check that box to have a copy of the email you sent. Hope this helps.

I always got them anyway. I just hope that not too many 'idiots' (no one specific), get egos that truly think the 'hot babes' aka scammers, are REAL. They will possibly end up back here complaining they were 'had'.

Thanks!

Already thought would be funny if I'd be granny and yet not allowed to receive or send contact info...

It is a step in the right direction. With having to pay merely to invite someone to your network it seemed silly to limit what you could say in an email once you do. As long standing members we would like to see some equity in the "favors" for profile viewing and emailing granted to ALL members regardless of gender. Even though we could cheat the system, we refuse to sign up as a female.

How about in the chat rooms? People get banned for giving out their IM's in chat all the time.

Can we get a clarification if this affects e-mail only or chat is allowed too?

I just tried emailing someone on the first go-round with contact information, and the system flagged me for it, advising not to send personal information. What gives? Are there words that trigger the site from sending the message?

It will be nice to be able to try to set up a meet with out having to exchange a couple of nonsense emails first. I like to state my intentions right away.

The site changed the rules quite some time ago and you can exchange personal contact information in a first email. You do not have to wait. Email is the only place you are allowed to give your personal contact information under this change. It is still not allowed in chat, blog/group postings, IMC or otherwise.
