The gift of laughter

I went to the hospital today to visit my Aunt that had a massive heart attack and required 3 stints to be put into her clogged arteries. My mother and I drove the hour and a half to the hospital she's in and once there I put my mother in a wheel chair and pushed her around the hospital until we found the right place to go. Mom joked about how I must be glad to be able to push her around now as she had done so much pushing me around when I was younger. So of course I went faster. And then put her in the corner
Aunt B did not know that my mother and I were coming. The smile that lit up her face was priceless. I gave her a huge hug and kiss and then began to harrass her unmercifully about her hospital gown and medical paraphanalia poking out everywhere. A grin broke out on her face as I knew it would. The game was afoot! She picked on me about my semi see through knit shirt and how it, ahem, showed off my assets and asked me if she should ring the bell for the gorgeous orderlies to come in to "help" out her single niece.
I hopped on her bed with her and told her she better quit faking a broken heart or she'd get used to the service. She chuckled a bit and told me that she'd find a hot man to fix mine.
We joked the afternoon away until she was feeling tired. We said our "see you laters". I could tell we'd really brightened her day.
She's hoping to be able to go home tomorrow if the Doctor gives the go ahead. If he does I will be her chauffer. She had other offers but she wants only me to be the one to drive her to her home. She tells me she wants to share every moment possible that she can share with me.
I light up her world, as she lights up mine.
I never did take her up on that cute orderly offer. But then again, there's always tomorrow.
