To watch or not to watch

That is the question. I worked all weekend as I do every weekend and when I logged on Sunday evening I had a lot of reading to do! Now I love to read the blogs that I watch almost as much as I love the interaction on my own blog, but I got to wondering, I know why I watch a blog, but I'm not always sure why some will watch, while others will just randomly come by repeatedly or only stop by once. Of course not everyone has a "hit" every single posting. Some blogs are deep and profound while others are silly. Some are just a bit of a steam blow off while others are something entirely relevant and meaningful. I had a close friend of mine at one point tell me that I was writing shit, where before I had been more fluent and interesting. I looked back when he had said that and realized that he was right! But you know, it didn't matter to me, because writing is a form of therapy for myself. I do it for me. It's almost purely selfish. Don't get me wrong, I love the attention and comments that I get from it, but that's not really all of it. It makes me feel better. Do I hope that it entertains? Of course I do. But it's secondary. I did take to heart what he said though, and put more effort into writing things that were more thought out, at least most of the time.
On the other hand, when I comment on someone else's blog, it's purely because I enjoyed whatever it is that I read, or I like that person and want them to feel good, or someone has said something that struck a nerve and I feel the desire to put my two cents worth in. I truly enjoy peeking into someone else's head and getting to know a bit about them and vice versa. I don't find it easy to like a lot of people locally. I get along with most everyone, that's not it, I just don't like shallow, arrogant, self absorbed people. There are a lot of traits I don't like to think of it. But once in awhile I will see something about someone that truly shines and makes them interesting to me. Sometimes it's the most unlikely of persons. I have been surprised before. The amazing thing is I have seen lots of people that I'm instantly drawn to in that kindred spirit kind of a way through reading their blogs. It's wonderful! A shame that most of them live so far away or it'd be great fun to meet some of them and share stories or whatnot.
It's funny, I joined this site at the behest of a friend to read the blogs and articles and such. I never thought that I'd actually get to like anyone, as it is such a rare thing for me, let alone want to meet anyone and hang out. But maybe that's just because of my preconceived notions and misgivings about the site. To be sure, some of the people here are exactly what I had figured on, but to my delight so many aren't.
And yeah, I know that it doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone that doesn't really know me, but isn't it half the fun to get to know someone?
So for the interaction part of this posting, I have some questions:
What makes you hit the watch button on a blog?
What makes you stop watching one?
Why do you blog?
Why do you comment?

Good questions!

What makes you hit the watch button on a blog?
If I just comment on one post, I will just watch that one, and not the entire blog. I have to read a few entries which strike my fancy before I will watch the blog. Usually it's people who are intelligent, witty, and who share good stories/insights that I will end up watching. Or people I know in real life.

What makes you stop watching one?
If they don't update regularly or if I am bored with reading it.

Why do you blog?
I like to keep track of my experiences and to have a place to rant about things that happen to me. But really I am just an attention whore and I love having people read my work and give me feedback!

Why do you comment?
I comment if I have something to contribute. I usually won't just say that I enjoyed the blog, I usually have something specifically to relate, my agreement or disagreement with the post or my own personal experience with the subject matter.

Free your mind. Open your heart. Move a mountain. An Open Book...

this blog sounded a lot like me, i blog because its my release, its getting things out of my head, i too love all the response i get.
as for ur questions, i will watch a blog if when i have come across it, it interests me or i enjoy reading it, i will stop watching a blog if i dont like where it starts to go, or if they change what they write about so it no longer keeps me interested.
like i said before i blog because its my realease, i just need to get things out of my head sometimes, and i comment if i have something to say, if i really feel the need to say something, sometimes i do sometimes i dont just depends.
big hugs xoxoxoxo

Why do I watch blogs? - Because if people watch me, then to even things up I need to watch them, otherwise the balance will be out and the earth may drift from it's axis. I don't want to be responsible for destroying the planet.

Why do I stop watching blogs? - I haven't stopped watching any yet, as if I do then the balance may be out....blah, blah, blah....

Why do I blog? - Because! (I have absolutely no idea)

Why do I comment? - I don't call it commenting. I prefer the term staining. I have no idea why I do it. Probably because I can.

If anyone replies on my blog then I check out their blog (if they have one). I usually reply and if I like what I read, then I keep watching.
I stop watching when they stop blogging.
I'm not a prolific blogger by any means but I like to share jokes and try to make my quizzes inter-active.
I comment because I've enjoyed reading the post and I have something worthwhile to add.
