It's time
|
It's time The tree is coming down. I am going to reclaim that space and get it all nice and neat again. I am no Martha to be sure, but I need some order in this chaos and today I'm enlisting the midgets to get some. The toy box in the living room will be pared down until it is not overflowing anymore, the book cases rearranged, and all non essentials will be found a new home. Yep, it's thrift shop day! The oldest, while an utter slob prone to leave disgusting things in her wake is actually a really big help when she puts her mind to it. The next in line is completely lazy, but if I keep her right with me and give step by step instructions, I can get her to help. The wee ones, well they try their best. I promised a reward for their efforts, so I'm thinking maybe their favorite Chinese buffet and perhaps a movie tonight. Ugh, I have to go to the store too! Wish me luck. Helmet, check, gloves, check, iron will, check, tissues for tears, double check. I can do this.  How long you all leaving your tree up?   |

I usually take my tree down a week into the New Year. Problem is, the bulb has gone and the lights on the tree aren't working, so it might be earlier than planned?!

I never had kids ( or been married ) so it's almost hard to relate but my brother did and he's here staying with me now with his full family so I almost can. But they are they are some sort of ideal "non annoying, cool kids" too so I still think I've been fully sheltered from "reality" in that regard. Good luck with it all!  insert exploding bomb image here

It sounds like you have a working plan!  Good success to you all!  Our tree and all the decorations came down yesterday; tonight I tote it all to the basement and store it away for yet another year. I have no one to bribe to help me though...  H.

LOL The midgets wanted it up long before I did.  And they didn't understand why I wanted it down, but it is, they were bribed, and everyone's happy.

Thanks! I had a friend unexpectedly come over and helped a bit with the midget brigade. We ended up watching DVD's at home after the thrift store run and Chinese buffet, but it was nice, and there's a pause button. I like the "kids" movies too!

LOL My mother doesn't celebrate and the holiday cheer makes her uncomfortable. I'm sure she'll be glad that it's down.

LOL I can't wait for the decorations at work to come down, it makes the call lights hard to see! Perhaps just a little tug here and there...

Tjeez didn't think about taking the tree down, just put it up 2 days before xmas ....depends when i'm in the mood for it ...or have enough of that thing in the room ( artificial tree) _ _ _ _ _ it's better to live and do the things today than to be sorry tomorrow
