Just so you know

It's incredibly difficult to flirt with the cute guy in the store who's smiling at me while 4 midgets are going insane and dumping coffee beans all over the floor 'cause they didn't know what that button was for...
Also, my phone calls are interrupted. A lot.
Ditto with chat sessions. Mommy duty calls and comes first. (Otherwise I would have a true disaster fueled by a jealous fury. You have no idea how vindictive a can be when told to hang on a second. )
Coming up with a witty email while noticing the baby is being choked by the 3 year old, (it's hugging, really...), the 9 year old is whining that the 12 year old called her a name, the 12 year old is trying to talk louder and faster to explain that it's all a vicious lie, and a cat is puking on the carpet, is not always an easy thing to do. I might even start to ramble a bit, or not finish a sentence. Sometimes I'm not really sure what got sent, or if I did hit that button.
Patience, yeah I got that.
Communication with adults that I enjoy, that are not terrified by midget minions, and have patience too: Priceless.

That usually happens when I say "I have to go to the bathroom." I don't think I've used the toilet by myself anywhere except for work in the past 9 years.

Midgets, minions, spawn, gremlins, it all depends on how they're behaving on any one day which they will be called...
Babysitting, what an excellent idea!

I keep hoping that patience is something they'll absorb through osmosis.

You know, every time I read a post like this, it makes me want to go out and celebrate the fact that I survived. I will only say that the year the oldest was 15, the middle one was 12, and the youngest, (my step-son), was 6, was one of the most harrowing years of my life. I had the arrival of the hormone fairy, the beginning of teen angst, middle-child syndrome, and the baby was adjusting to having a much older step brother and step sister in the house, and living with his father and a new 'mom' once again.
I survived! Praise all that is holy and right in the world, I survived!!
They survived! That is a miracle right there. I wasn't sure who was closer to taking out whom. I wanted to lock them in their rooms until they were old enough to leave for college, they tried to kill me with stress-induced heart attacks.
Take mental health days, even if you have to force them on yourself.

"Shall I tell you the secret of the true scholar? It is this: every man I meet is my master in some point, and in that I learn of him."
