Them silly holidays
Them silly holidays Working for the state I never quite understood why we get certain "holidays" off and not others that people actually celebrate. Who honestly celebrates President's day other than perhaps those actually in politics heavily? And yet Valentines Day is not counted, yet nearly everyone does something for it. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Ah well, I have to work both of them anyways, which is fine as I wouldn't have any plans anyways most likely. Just a couple of cards to some dear friends and perhaps a small thing for each of the girls is all I have in mind. Last week I felt a desire for flowers, and so I went and got myself some. The picture doesn't do them a lot of justice I'm afraid, but I thought the colors were really pretty. Maybe I'll get myself some more, fix myself a nice meal and watch a movie before getting some sleep in between shifts. I dunno, what're your plans for Valentines day? And what are your thoughts on the obscure holidays? |

I'll be away from Friday 12th until Monday 15th visiting a friend. It just so happens that Valentines Day falls in between. I was in a proper relationship with her for a year and 'broke up' last May, although we remain really close, you could say we are soul mates? I have bought a card for her and want to buy her some roses (yellow, being here favourite), although I don't want to overdo it, if you see what I'm getting at?

I agree with you. I would gladly trade in a two bullshit holidays in to get Holloween as a paid holiday. The holiday with the most potential for fun and you're stuck working it most of the time. I figure I'll spend my VD day driving around beating up happy couples

I am going to a meet~n~greet tomorrow night, and that is just about all I know for certain...but with my two crazies? Who knows? "Shall I tell you the secret of the true scholar? It is this: every man I meet is my master in some point, and in that I learn of him." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Holiday pay does rock! I have some really bad V-Day memories, so it just kinda sends me into a funk. Eh, I'll find someway to amuse myself and snap out of it.

You're forgetting Turkey Day! Ah well, I'm sure the midgets are enjoying all of their little school parties and such.

Awww well you can be my Valentine and have a pint or a few at home on your couch, while I have something or other on mine. I think I'll be watching Planet 51, or perhaps District 9...I dunno, definitely not The Notebook again though. Curl up under a blankie and drift off on a nice little buzz with background tv noise, yep, it's not half bad.
