ARE FARMERS PERVERTS?

Having been brought up on a farm, harvest time was a regular part of my childhood. My father was a dairy farmer, though he also grew barley, wheat and potatoes to sell for cash. And he’d sometimes keep pigs and hens, but his main living came from selling milk from his herd of Friesian cows - see above.

Friesians are high milk-yielding cows, whose milk is also relatively low in cream content. Farmers are paid less for their milk if there’s a high cream yield.

My father also had a Hereford bull - see above - to sometimes entertain his cows! These bulls, unlike Friesian bulls, are quite docile. I often used to ride the bull, who was always called Billy!

I never enjoyed harvest time, especially when hay was cut, because I suffered from asthma, eczema and hay fever. It’s one of the reasons that my parents sent me away to boarding school.

However, I used to enjoy fetching the cows up to be milked. This involved a long walk with the dog. On setting off to the field where the cows were, I would shout ‘Aurp’, the signal for them to start walking towards the milking parlour.

There was always a pecking order to how the cows walked towards the milking parlour. At the front would be the strongest cows and just behind them would be the young upstarts going up and the older cows going down in the pecking order. At the back would be the very oldest cows taking their time to walk to be milked.

Cows are keen to be milked because they are fed while being milked. The milking parlour was always a very shitty place and, when milking cows, I’d often have to take evasive action to avoid sloppy cow shit landing on me!

I’m always slightly surprised how many people don’t know exactly how cow’s milk is produced. When a cow gives birth to a calf, the farmers will keep the female calves to become milking cows and will fatten and sell the male calves to be eaten for beef. Most meat we eat is male meat.

When a cow gives birth, she will lactate. The calf will be taken away from the cow so that the farmer can milk the cow. Female calves are fed artificial milk instead of their mother’s milk.

After a cow stops lactating, she will be artificially inseminated or let loose with a randy bull to get pregnant and start the whole process again.

I’m aware that on this site there are quite a few members who are farmers or have farming backgrounds, plus there are lots of Toronto Maple Leafs fans! Though I’ve not counted, I suspect they may be proportionately more farmers on this site than you would predict given the number of farmers in the wider population.

Farmers, I believe, are perverts!

Have you ever been on a farm?
If so, have you ever had sex on a farm?
Have you ever had sex with a farmer?

Below is an aerial shot of the village in Shropshire in which I grew up - the farm is in the bottom right hand corner of the photo; it was next door to a pub. My younger brother now runs the farm.

Sorry this is a long post; I just took a sentimental journey!

I've been to plenty of farms when growing up in Pennsylvania, but never had sex there, or with a farmer.

I do know one site member that was invited by a local farmer to come "visit" one of this animals for his viewing pleasure, so you might have a point about farmers being pervs!

Happy HNW.

I have been to many dairy farms, and had fun trying to milk the cows by hand. Yes, I know that it is a shitty place to be while the milking is done. No, I haven't had the pleasure of having sex with a farmer or on a farm.
Happy HNW and thanks for the walk down your memory lane!

Here's a joke for you, S... I hope you can play along instinctively as my straight man or you won't get the most from it.

Have you noticed the price of milk these days..? It's actually getting cheaper to buy the bull... (you then impart your farm knowledge upon me about where milk actually comes from)... then I give you the punchline.
I'm not sure I quite understand what I have to do here.

All you have to do, dear man, is explain where milk actually comes from...
Milk comes from cows' udders!

That's a pretty good understanding of the joke, there S...

In its pristine form, it goes as follows...

I say, "I can't believe the price of milk these days... It's actually getting cheaper to buy the bull..."
Someone says, "But Mel, milk doesn't come from bulls, it comes from cows..."
Then I reply "It depends what sort of milk you like!" (suggestive ) So yes, it alludes to a preference for cock-milk...
I was way off the pace with your joke.

    Yes!
Have you ever had sex with a farmer?
The farmers daughter with I was dating at the time yes!
Farmers can be quite protective towards their daughters, so I hope there were no incidents!

I enjoy your sentimental journeys, S...

When I was fifteen, I lived on a farm very similar to what you describe here. I stayed for a year but while I was there, I worked my guts out. It was tough!

Yes, I've had sex on a farm... With several different farmhands.

No, the farmer was married to a very masculine-looking woman, I think he would have found me too physically feminine... They had two very young daughters and a baby son, so she was no doubt female, she simply didn't look like one.
I hope the farmhands handled you well!

I never ever thought I would get sentimental about my farm upbringing as, at the time, I was desperate to get away from the farm!

Despite my farm upbringing, I've never had sex with a farmer's wife or daughter. And I guess masturbating doesn't count as sex with a farmer's son!

Thanks for the memories. My Grandfather had a farm in Pennsylvania where my Grammy raised Black Angus steers and my Uncle had and now my cousin has the dairy farm nearby. I remember feeding the calves they were all born on the same day, but some were so much larger and I am sorry I asked my cousins why that was so. It really made an impression on me. I returned from my stay there a vegetarian, much to the consternation of my mother. I am an on and off vegetarian, but still to this very day, I have been put off veal.

I really had a giggle when I saw your blog for the first time and immediately started working my way back through the posts. On one of my first journeys to the UK I arrived at Euston and asked for a ticket to Aberystwyth. The request was met with laughter at my journey to the end of the Earth, the ticket agent adding: "Wales, were the men are strong and the sheep are afraid". So yes, I think the predominate opinion is that farmers are perverts. Cheers!
I won't eat veal either. The phrase, where men are men and sheep are nervous, was also applied to where I lived as well!
Aberystwyth is not the usual port of call for a first-time visitor in this country. I still remember its pier and the bracing wind.

I've been to several farms and several of those, frequently. I've never had sex on a farm or with a farmer but there's still time!

The farm methods you describe match my own experiences, except... Male cows were sent to slaughter very young and used for dog food. Fattening up male calves for meat does still happen but I believe mixed use cattle are very much in decline.
If there was enough fields, my Dad did fatten the male calves as he got a better price for them at the market.
