On occasion, I've had comments of a less desirable nature but I left them there for all to see and promptly awarded the  with this bling:

Some people aren't worth the shoulder shrug they generate every time they open their feed hole. "Whatever" is an appropriate response and its socially accepted... Moreso than any response that involves picking your teeth with their bones. Either way, its always best to wash your hands afterwards.

Life is too short to deal with idiots and small minded people. Ban them or not, delete their comments or not, I wouldn't respond. But I would rather throw away a pair of shoes than spend 10 minutes scraping off the dog shit...

*Putting on my egghead academic hat* People who engage in that sort of "hit and run trolling" behavior are looking for a reaction. Ignore the provocation, it only feeds them and eggs them on. If you ban them or otherwise try to stop them from posting, it's easy enough for them to create a sock puppet profile and begin. IMO (and unfortunately experience)the best thing to do is to just ignore hem, leave the post there and let your other visitors know that they are to just ignore that kind of behavior as well. Deprive the fire of its fuel and the flame will go out.

I find humiliating them much more entertaining for me. Only because their come backs are usually more asinine that the original offensive statement. But what I really wanna know who the jackass is that says I am not suppose to be attracted to big assed women. I like me some hips to grab and grrrrrrrrr wait thats Tony the tiger ummmmmmm Grab some hips and howl at the moon. Don't compromise yourself! You are all you've got!

Regarding Mr. Happy(Itotallystolethispic) though, he's a dumbass. He refused to speak to me again after I gave him several various peer-reviewed studies regarding obesity and the drain on healthcare. He's not worth engaging, because he's really just here to provoke an emotional response out of you.

I don't generally ban or delete anyone. I also don't have people seeking out my blog solely to pick fights with me either because I'm low on the blog totem pole  So a grain of salt with my words. I would probably allow their comments to stand. If I felt that I could respond objectively and without heat, then I would do so. I don't think that just because someone is a fucking idiot, I shouldn't engage with them - but I do try to pick my battles, and I won't fight uphill. I try to decide if their words have merit, if I'm reacting emotionally because I'm feeling defensive or if they're just being assholes. Then I go from there. I try to make my points based on fact and logic, and if they still push back, I ignore them. That's what works best for me.

Let them show their true colors. The "net" has a term for these type of people, they are called "Flamers" and their sole purpose is to cause dissent and discord. They get off on it. Its much like the two year old who isn't getting their way, so they demand attention in an inappropriate manner, by kicking and screaming and throwing a good old fashioned hissy fit (aka temper tantrum). I always managed my children's temper tantrums by ignoring the behavior. Besides Gotta, you are a lady.. why lower yourself to their level? I'm thinking a combination of the top two, depending on their severity. (in my humble opinion) if it's a real jack-ass with no real input to the blog or any conversation, then they should be removed. However, if it's a comment that may be misguided or narrow-minded, but they actually wanted to make some sort of point, then maybe keep that comment, and let other's (if they want to) persue this person, since they did leave a comment and they are open for response. But totally up to you! since it is YOUR blog.

Everyone has their own way of entertaining themselves. For a few it's going on random blogs and insulting the blogger and readers of said blogs. It's how they get their rocks off. Everything is a fetish these days. SMH. No worries. Just do not add fuel to the fire. I chose option #2. I opted for Don't ban them (so we can see who these assholes are), but don't engage them.... I agree with Jasminum64 as she notes " many of us are here for the entertainment value and meeting new people...". That is why I'm here. Yes its fun to see what some idiot savants can write and come back to you with. I enjoy watching a creative wordsmith put their knowledge and skill to good use. Some here know I can go toe to toe and throw insults with the best of them BUT need a good reason to do it. Frankly, some of the amateur writers here aren't really worth wasting your time and good comebacks on. So before an outright ban,I think these " possible ASSHOLES " should be given a chance or two to backpedal,rephrase and explain themselves fully. IF they don't retreat and continue on with insults and disparaging remarks, then its GAME ON! You can unleash your best insulting slander comments and then opt for banishment. DONT get yourself banned in the process. There's a fine line between creative comeback and insulting asshole like remarks. Trust me I've learned! ...Don't Take It Serious - It's Only Humor... ....Hey guess what...I don't give a sh!t anymore....
