Limbo

A while back I wrote this little poem about the Purgatory. Looking for a painting to describe it I found this rather extraordinary black and white painting. The image of the veil, present in both of them, is one of those happy coincidences again?!

Their fate yet suspended in time

Shades confined in white emptiness

Unaware of the satin veil

That encases their frozen countenances

Mute creatures forever liberated from love
