50 Shades of Meh

So I went out to see 50 Shades... and I have to say I was underwhelmed. I left with the impression that the filmmakers were afraid to be branded soft core pornographers so were afraid to put in too much sexual stuff... but isn't that what put the books on the radar in the first place? A couple of the scenes were pretty hot, but short and nothing you can't see in most any R rated movies. The BDSM scenes don't bother me, but don't do much for me. I think I understand better now why the audiences are overwhelmingly female. I don't think I'll bother seeing the sequels, and if I can put a prediction out there, this movie got all the 50 Shades hype, and was a box office success on reputation, the sequels will do very poorly in comparison.

Having read the books I wondered how it would be possible to turn the book into a movie without making it porn or soft porn because of the intensity of the sexual encounters and some of the BDSM , so I am sure it got lost in the translation of a R rated movie.
