It is always been universal where I come from. The poor ones always only able to go to national health. The rich ones always in private, or abroad. That is universal no? These days is tragic. Hospitals with no equipment, doctors and nurses, medical every day kit like bandages, not even enough sheets, beds, or even food! Collapsing, like the rest of the country. Just almost like Syria, but without the bombs.
Britain is miles ahead, but is always a strugle to fund it.

    Quoting SunnyBeaches904:
Canada is fine if you need emergency services. If you need to schedule a procedure you will get in a very long line and wait about six months to a year. If the US healthcare system is so bad, why do people from all over the world come to the US for services? Go to a good hospital like Cleveland Clinic or Mayo and try to have a conversation with everyone you see. You wont be able to because they are likely from various other places.

Free healthcare equals slavery for the healthcare professional. It has got to be a free market situation.

Doctors go to very expensive schools for almost ten years. They should be compensated for their time and dedication.
I am not sure where you get the wait six months to a year for services that are non-emergency. That has certainly not been my experience. I have had some non-emergency services and waited a month to six weeks. I have friends in the medical field from nurses to doctors and just like the US they have a huge debt when completing school but some of that is waived or paid by communities for a few years of service.

There are plenty that go across the border, to Mexico and to Europe for treatments. Canada takes forever to approve new medical treatments. If you have the money and can afford it, then fight the good fight.

The majority of junk mail I get in my email box is regarding Canadian pharmaceuticals. I recall reading an article in the NY TImes about a woman ordering her medicine from a Canadian Pharmacy. The cost for her in the US was $1000/year while by ordering it from Canada it is only $100/yr.

WHY CAN'T OUR HEALTHCARE BE LIKE CANADA'S OR AUSTRALIA'S SYSTEM?

The three biggest lobbying groups in DC are the drug companies, insurance providers and the US Chamber of Commerce. They all spend money to ensure that government stays out of private healthcare and allows them to jack their prices up as high as the market allows.

You asked if it was greed? Abso-fucking-lutely.

Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.
