So why is it that the IM system is so slow (people no longer on)
Dose anyone ever IM or take IM

 Are you speaking of people you know, or people you don't know? I IM with people I know for the most part. If I'm on IM I'm usually chatting with someone I know and catching up with them, so I don't take other IM's, because whomever I'm chatting with deserves my whole attention. If I receive an IM from someone I don't know I'll reply if their profile interests me.
