Her are a few of my favorite sayings...If you have one, please do share!

1. Variety IS the spice of life.
2. Different strokes for different folks.
3. Image is 1/3 perception and 2/3s deception.
4. It's a small world...sometimes it's smaller than you think (I'll discuss that in another post)
5. You can never be too rich or too educated.
6. Carpe diem (literal translation - pluck the day...lol).
7. Res ipsa loquitur - the affair speaks for itself.
8. Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.
9. Confidence is the sexiest thing a man/woman can have. It's much sexier than any body part.

Putting Things Into Perspective

After a night out for dinner and drinks with friends, I sit here pondering why things happen. I have a pain inside of me that the more I talk/write the less it hurts. So again I will write about it.
I always have felt that things happen for a reason. Sometimes the reason is readily apparent - you think about a friend who hasn't closed your mind in a while and you decide to call. In chatting with him or her, you mind out about some matter going on with them that you can help with.
Other times, it takes a long time to figure out the reason. Sometimes one can never figure out a logical reason. Yesterday, I lost a good friend to cancer. He was 47 years old, married with three . I ask myself why? He had worked hard his whole life only to have it cut short by something out of his control.
It is times like this that help to put things into perspective. I am not used to rejection. I have had to face it and figure out how to deal with it (which I have not done well with at all). With the death of my friend, I've realized that I have been putting too much energy into a situation that I cannot change. Even though my reasons for wanting to find out what went wrong are sincere (wanted to know so I can do everything within my power to ensure that it doesn't happen again), I need to let it go if the person I ask for assistance from chooses not to help.
Actions are motivated by feelings. Emotions put us in motion. I can choose how I respond to an emotion. I am the one in control. This feeling of being in control is empowering. Taking responsibility for my happiness is empowering.
I need to do better with managing my feelings. Why does it bother me? What are my beliefs? What are my needs? How can I meet them by myself?
At I look to the future, I need to keep some basic guidelines in mind.
1) Know my feelings
2) Express my feelings
3) Respect other's feelings
4) Avoid toxic people (invalidating, defensive, disrespecting, insecure, negative)
I need to remember that happiness is not just something one gets out of a relationship but also something one brings in.

Men and the Signs of the Zodiac

I thought I'd pick a fun subject to write about tonight...Men and the Signs of the Zodiac. I have had success in "screening" applicants - oops, I mean ...lol, so why not try to select them based on the zodiac sign...lol. Granted about 50% provide a fake date (so this factor will invalidate my scientific research project)... It's not like I'm getting any grant money.
Aries, The Ram - Detached and self indulging...lol. I want someone to "indulge" me....hehehe.
Taurus, The Bull - You may be head strong, but you're also a strong-willed man. You have a need to protect which I find endearing
Gemini, The Twins - Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality...I usually end up with one on Hyde night I find you Very hard to read...
Cancer, The Crab- Those water signs can be sexy, but the Cancer is the biggest whiner of the zodiac (sorry all you Cancer men, but it's true). Oh, just be quiet...hehehe.
Leo, The Lion - My my such a big strong ego we have...Sometime it means they ooze self confidence (a plus), but sometimes that ego gets in the way and things are said that can't be taken back. Couple with that fact they are feelers (as opposed to thinkers), I guess they just can't help it.
Virgo - Aren't we picky...a place for everything and everything in it's place. Excuse me that I ordered a Riesling with steak.
Libra - Damn killer smile...You should be doing Crest toothpaste commercials...lol. You believe in fairness; usually your version of fairness, but nonetheless fairness. You love to talk about yourself, about life, about me...conversations are abundant when we're together.
Scorpio - The sexiest sign I can pick you out in a crowded room. You ooze sex appeal without even trying. You lead and I will follow
Capricorn - The old man of the zodiac. You believe in tradition...You tend to do something because that's the way it's always been done. Unfortunately, you tend to apply that to your sex life - some old thing...That's one of the factors that lead to the end of my marriage.
Aquarius, The Water bearer - You tend to be standoffish (is that a word). You also make up your own words...lol (ok, I'm an Aquarius). You are not easy to read and don't let your guard down very often. But when you do, it's a beautiful sight You enjoy being quirky - it keeps others guessing and throws them of the trail. Note: Female water bearers are usually squirters...lol.
Pisces, The Fish - You are the Dominant of the zodiac. You are strong and strong-willed. You are an excellent leader in and out of the bedroom. You are a charmer - to the point that women will submit to you just to be with you (ya think I speak from experience...lol). You know how to make a women feel like she's the only one in the world when you're together. You have fabulous expressive eyes
Well, based on my comments, one might think that I have a thing for Pisces If you anything else to add, please do so!
