What do you think about a person being BiPolar

I had a very good friend call me today and tell me that she was just diagnosed as being BiPolar Type II. I was really shocked in some ways and didn't know what to say to her. She explained that this type isn't as severe as regular BiPolar. That the "hypomania" isn't as wild in the type II. She is down and out a lot, and has battled depression and anxiety for several years.
She confided she is afraid to tell most people because they will view it as a weakness or worst yet like she is some sort of freak. Do you still think society has an issue with people with mental health problems? Do you think people can live normal lives with medication and counseling? I don't really know what advice to give to her. I think she has been fine lately. She told me she has been going for treatment and counseling for about a month now. I can definitely see a difference in her outlook. I told her this, but I want to give her more words of encouragement and assure her she won't be ridiculed.

Why do married or attached men continually email and i.m. ladies when they clearly state they do not want that sort of thing?
Do they not understand? Do they not care? Well that is probably obvious they wouldn't be here if they cared.
Where are all the single and serious men? I am not looking for a different guy every night, week or month. I would enjoy finding one decent guy who wants a friend in and out of the bedroom. I am not asking, nor do I want a marriage proposal. I want to go places, do things together, and yes have an intimate relationship.
I am a very passionate, romantic and kind person; looking for a guy who is single, honest and sincere.
