Nightmare Assembly
Nightmare Assembly I bought a Wardrobe set with drawers from a famous Swedish store (known for it's meatballs and Ligonberry's). It has become a nightmare project. I opened the four boxes looking for instructions and then I realized none of the parts are labeled. I also noticed there over a 100 screws, bolts, cams, and dowels. I was intimidated but I pressed on. I got to my first obstacle....a board with holes drilled wrong. I thought I was at fault so I got a second opinion from my Dad....low and behold the part was drilled wrong. I called the 1800 number and they told they could order me the part but it would it take 6 to 8 weeks, but they recommended to go back to the store where I bought it. So my GF and I went back and exchanged the part. We brought the new part back. I tried assembling it again, but low and behold- they gave me the wrong part. Now, I had to go back to the store for a switch out. I forgot to tell you that the first time I switched parts at the store, the store had to open a new set to give me my part. The second I went back, they had to open a new box to get my correct part. I asked the manager what they do with these partial box sets they opened and he laughed- "we trash them." I laughed out loud and told the manager, this corporation should label the parts so that this don't happen. He said he has heard this statement hundreds of times. Now, I am calling a professional furniture builder who specialize in putting the Swedish Store furniture together. I am done with this project. My recommendation: do not buy furniture from this world famous Swedish Store, especially if you don't to build it from scratch! “Life is available only in the present moment.” Thich Nhat Hanh Come and read my blog! I have found their furniture fairly simple to assemble. I open all of the packages, sort all of the parts and then start to swear and throw things. When my wife has had enough, she calmly suggests I go for a drive and maybe stop for a beer or two. I follow her instructions an when I get home, the piece is together and ready to be moved into it's place (I am good at the heavy lifting).

Kind of funny that they are still in business. I have of this Comany but never had the pleasure to put anything together. Very frustrating funny for the both of you hugsV Become a blog watcher sweet_vm

Isn't that the place where Vgyjewr7 swborptoor copies Kieth Herrig type figures instead of using just stick diagrams to indicate motion on their instructions? Yas is Goot! Using more than all the road!

Reminds me of a gas grille i bought unassembled. I get it about the screws and the washers etc but it was an American company and the directions were in Taiwanese! Took me 5 hours I don't understand how IK makes it work- the stores are so far apart that distribution must cost a fortune (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

This is a common complaint of its furniture here too. It looks good in the store but it's a nightmare assembling it.
