How to Set Up a Meet and Greet


For those who have been around for a while you will remember that we stopped allowing posts about meetups in Groups and Blogs. We did this a little before my time, I think it was October of 08. It was becoming a spammer paradise, and there were some very real safety concerns around some meetups.

Of coarse we want Groups to be able to create meet and greets. My most prized moment will be when I introduce our new Meet and Greet tool. Seriously, I'm super excited about it. Some day I will make that post and mark it off my LesbianPersonals bucket list.

Until then I wanted to remind you that you can set up an event by using Get Local. The process goes like this:

1) Go to Get Local across the top of the page
2) Select "Create an Event"
3) At the top you will see "Add a Business"
This business will be screened and approved. It usually only takes a few minutes. We just want to make sure it's not a private residence (safety again).
4) Once that business is created, you can add as many events as you like to it.

The process does take a bit of patience, but the payoff is that you get a posting tag you can then put into your Blog or Group.

 Thank you VERY much for recognizing this problem. We are the creators of the Middle Tennessee Socials "Get local" & "Group" pages. It has taken us a couple of years and MANY MANY phone calls and begging to be reinstated after being banned to figure out how to continue hosting meet & greets. We have a couple of posts on our Groups page regarding why we do this and how so many people feel that it is safer than meeeting people in a one on one situation for the first time.

Now IF I can just get someone to help get me reinstated as the moderator of our group instead of the "report4abuse" profile that took over the last time that I was banned

But again I greatly appreciate that someone is working on it and has recoginzed that we have figured out the right way to do it.

 The whole get local section is a joke. Group members (or at least the moderators) should be able to post group events! I tried to post an event in the get local section and of course, it didn't post. There has to be a better way to allow members to post events!
