Most of the time I can actually sympathise with those feelings and experience similar most of the time. I don't know if it would work for you or perhaps you've already done it. I've found the most effective way to distract myself from that bottomless pit is to try and find a way to help brighten someone else's day. I don't know why it makes me feel better, especially as I try to conceal that it was me. Another method is just chatting to someone who doesn't know me at all. If you ever decide you need to vent, chat, shoot the breeze or even abuse someone, I offer my ear, shoulder to cry on, face to slap. Perhaps I understand what you're writing correctly, or perhaps I've missed the point completely, but, either way, the offer is there.
