Love Kentucky Wildcats Atlanta Braves 80s music

I'll add more later, but my 2nd fondest sports memory was in August 1983, behind only the 1995 World Champion Braves. My beloved Atlanta Braves were playing the hated and loathed, but very great Los Angeles Dodgers at the time. We had come all the way back from a 6-1 deficit to tie things up, only to lose the lead at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium (the old stadium before Turner Field and SunTrust Park) to the Dodgers on a Greg Brock (remember him old time baseball fans?) in the top of the 9th inning. In the bottom of the 9th, Rafael Ramirez our shortstop, a very underrated fielding and hitting shortstop for our team, hit a very, very underrated hustle infield single with no one out. No one talks about that single today, but without that underrated hit, we probably don't win that game. Anyway, one out later, Bob Watson, a former right-handed hitting 1st baseman for the Houston Astros and New York Yankees (he even played in the World Series for the Yanks) pinch hit for Claudell Washington (another very underrated player left handed hitting right fielder), with Rafy on 1st base, and one man out, down 7-6. He hit against left handed closer Steve Howe. Yes that Steve Howe, the one given 7 or 8 chances in baseball despite a rampant history of drug abuse. I remember watching the game with my now deceased grandparents at home in McDowell County, West "by God" Virginia, on SuperStation WTBS. We only had cable for a few years, so this was new to us. Before WTBS, you could watch at most 2 games/week, 3 if you're luck. Before a sold-out crowd, Bob Watson blasted a dramatic walk off 2 run homer off Howe to win the game for the Braves 8-7! I was sad and depressed as always, thinking we had lost as always. After Watson hit that homer, my grandma and I both jumped up and down! Sadly that was the highlight of the 80s Braves. More later.

Check out 1:00:00 for one of the all time greatest moments in Atlanta Fulton County Stadium history. Go Braves!

I am actually more of a Kentucky football fan than basketball fan believe it or not. Sounds weird but it's true, especially since Kentucky is the "ultimate" basketball school. Lol.

Kentucky 24, Georgia 20 The date the goalposts came down.
