a story

A man steps onto a hill overlooking a village he sighs in contentment. He walks down his hands spreading out to bring in the warmth of the sun. As he steps forward he plunge forward and opens his eyes to a the forest around him. He moves forward urged by the drive within himself to find it. He walks through the underbrush snapping vines and breaking branches. Only to look down upon the fallen that came before him, His pace quickens and he pushes himself faster leering at the old stone tower ahead of him. It rises above the trees a beacon to the testament of time. He forces himself faster not caring what is trampled below his feet. He reaches the door to hear a mind-numbing scream behind him. He opens the door and enters hearing the scream fade away. He looks up the tower hearing the wind blow through it making the rocks tremble under his feet as he walks up the stairs. Higher and higher he goes his mind numbing to his surroundings. The final door he reaches out and opens it to a flashing light. He opens his eyes to the expansive fields ahead and smiles walking towards the village at the bottom of the hill.
