What is Captcha?
Remember those 3 digits you used to have to fill in before doing things like sending an email, posting a group topic, quoting a blog post? Those were called Captcha.
Sites use captcha to make sure you are a human being and not a bot. You see these all over the web whenever you sign up for a new service.
Where did Captcha go?
If you are a brand new member, you will still see captcha. If you are a real member who has made enough posts, we turned off captcha for you.
Why did we do this?
To make it easier for you! This way you don't need to find those numbers and fill them out every time you send an email. The capcha will stay in effect for new members and on our registration, so you won't see any increase in spam.
So go send some emails and enjoy your captcha free environment!

To see all the details and become a Beta Site Tester, go to The Beta Test Group. To jump right in:
1) Go here - http://beta.adultfriendfinder.com 2) Use this site for daily use until Tuesday, July 27th. 3) If you see anything not working, click on the red "Feedback" tab on the right hand side of every page.
Q & A:
Q: Is this site the same? If I post something here will it post to the real site? A: Yes, this is the same site. It's tied to the same database as you've always used. Everything you do here will show up on the non-beta site.
Q: What's the red feedback tab? It's asking me to sign up when I want to add something? A: We are using a company called UserVoice to collect feedback. You need to sign up there so both of us can track your suggestions. NOTE: WHEN YOU SIGN UP, USE YOUR USERNAME HERE INSTEAD OF YOUR REAL NAME. You can always fix it if you forget.
Q: What will you do with our feedback? A: I'll test each suggestion, and then log it in our bug tracking system. We have a special section within our bug tracking where our engineers will be watching. I'll give you feedback on the status of your issue.
Other questions? Add them here. Have fun! Send tons of feedback.

We are looking at some different ways to organize features on the top navigation bar. We wanted to ask you what would make sense before doing any mock-up designs. To gather your feedback we are using an online sorting tool. It can be found here:
Point your browser to:
http://ffn.optimalsort.com/affnavbar2/
It basically allows you to organizes all the elements of LesbianPersonals into groups. We have our own ideas of what should go where, but want to hear yours.
Appreciate your help. I'll share the mock-ups with you after we get your feedback.

Blocking Members from Viewing Your Profile

And now for the best news I've ever had the pleasure to share with you.
You can block another member from viewing your profile.
Go there now: - Click "My Account" at the top of the page - Scroll down to "Blocked Member List" under preferences on the left hand side - Block anyone that has been hounding you
The next time they click on your profile, they will get a page that says, "You do not have the permission to view this profile."
What it does not do: It doesn't block people from seeing your posts on others blogs, groups or in chat. They just can't drill into your profile. The next version will fix this (probably next month).
Note: Thanks to EyesOH for pointing out that if someone clicks on your profile and gets the "You do not have the permission to view this profile," you still see it as a profile view on your side. Let's be clear, you get the alert that they viewed you, but they didn't actually see anything. Fixing it.

Hey Ladies, Why Are You Checking Each Other Out?

I have a simple question, that probably has a complex answer.
Why do straight women check each other out on LesbianPersonals?
Here's the deal, we've noticed when sending newsletters or just tallying up clicks around the site that women check each other out just about as much as men check women out. Why is that?
The armchair dood psychologist in me says it's to compare yourself against other women, for competitive reasons.
Maybe it's just for makeup tips. Maybe you just want to know who someone else is. Are girls just prettier to look at than men? Maybe it's something else specific to LesbianPersonals? You tell me, why are women looking at so many women?

The Real Site Support Team

Last week I made a post about our new customer support team. With the post I included a pick of a crowded call center in China.
genuine_jim as well as affeditor and others pointed out this was bad form on my part.
Well, here's what our support team really looks like. At least this is what it looks like early on a Thursday morning from my crappy camera phone. Hey look, there's Jimmy and Charlie with the thumbs up, there's Leo on the phone in the back.
We have two shifts for site support, and they have about 10 employees. Not all 10 are crammed into this space.
Our oversees offices are similar, and I'm not sure what Charlie and Leo are eating, but I imagine the overseas offices smell a bit better too.

What's Next for the Beta IMC?

We've had the Beta IMC up for about a month now. During that time we've been talking to you and collecting your feedback.
The plan now is to fix and tweak the IMC based on all your feedback. Once the IMC is cleaned up, we'll release it as a replacement to the current IMC tool. This will probably be sometime mid-summerish. Until then, you'll have access to both the old and beta IMC.
Here's some fun stats:
Average number of IMC messages sent in a day = 1,614,852 Number of group chats per day during beta test = 8294 Average messages sent per regular IMC session = 136 Average messages per new group chat session = 190 75% like the new IMC 53% will use the Group Chat feature
Here's what we are fixing based on your feedback
Missing features from the old IMC that we are fixing:
- One-click Mute capability has disappeared. You are forced to use the slider. - Lacks the 1 line introduction description when you select a member. - No audible ding when a page comes in - Difficult to see if it is a male, female or couple. Gender should be color coded - Filtering is difficult to find. You first have to sort. Can’t figure out how to unsort - Can't select which camera input you want to broadcast from - You can't see location of members when viewing your broadcasters
Bugs we are fixing:
- Pages not going through (variety of reasons) - Kicked off, session ending/crashing (should be better right now) - Repeating IM headlines. If you first IM has a headline of "do you want to be serviced" many are complaining that pages after that have the same “do you want to be serviced headline. You only see the real message when you open it. Seems to happen after you accept a page - Banning or blocking a member doesn't work during that session. Doesn't boot them from the broadcast. - Mac issues - Chat doesn't expand in full screen - Broadcasters frequently loose chats (don't see new chats coming in). - Chats continue after the broadcaster stops broadcasting - For standards - Get a message that they can't open a new webcam view, because they have already opened one, even if they don't have one opened. Usually a minute delay from closing a window, to being able to open a new one. - Webcam picture quality is fuzzy - If you accept pages from another language (say French), your page reloads as the French version of the site
Changes you would like to see:
- Prefer gender icons to 'M/F/C' text - Men want to stop men from viewing them - It doesn't remembers my saved preferences/filters - In full screen, you lose about 1/3rd of the screen. it doesn't open in correct proportions. - Should be able to press Enter to send a message - I would like on the IMC to be able to see when the other person is typing. - When I click on a user, I don't want to have to click the "X" to close the page/profile window. I want to be able to click off the profile and have it close. - If you page a member who is viewing you, they only get the page if they are broadcasting too. If not, they will never know you paged them or tried to communicate. The page should go into the notification bar.

Abuse Team News

Here's some interesting inside information. Those of you who swing by the Live From AFF know that Mr. K is the head of our abuse team, very supportive of the requests we voice in here and an all around swell guy.
He just swung by my desk and let me know that our new abuse team is live. That's 20 new agents. These agents are much more skilled (and expensive), and should be able to handle abuse reports in a much smarter way. These agents will be monitoring chat and webcams and responding to your abuse reports.
You should see less of your friends getting kicked off for seemingly arbitrary comments, and better focus on the real issues.

Yesterday some people were getting pushed to the mobile version of our site when they were on the website. It looks like a stripped down version of the site.
We were able to fix the issue late last night. Let me know if any of you are still experiencing the issue.

Logging in with Different Accounts

A security issue was fixed last night that will affect how many of you play with the site, especially if you have multiple accounts open at the same time.
In Short - You will not be able to have more than one user session per browser. If you want to log onto the site with two different accounts at once, open up two different browsers (like IE and Firefox).
Long version - Our URL's used to identify who you were in the string of letters and numbers. That's how we knew who you were, and what information to display to you. Now that information is hidden and handled in a cookie.
What you will notice:
- Say you are using FireFox and have multiple windows or tabs open. On each of those tabs you used to be able to log in with different accounts. Now all those tabs will represent the account you most recently logged in with.
- You won't have to re-login when sending links from the site to each other.
This is good for your personal security on the site, but it will take a little getting used to. It may be a little confusing, so hit me up with any questions.

Todays Release - Associate Members, Missing Posts Fixed
|

Our monthly release went out today around 12:30 PM Pacific.
For those that don't know, we do a release to the site once a month that includes any new features, and fixes to issues. Sometimes we have releases with very obvious changes, like the addition of the Activities feed. Other times most of the updates are backend technology handling type issues.
What you should notice is fixed:
- We blocked new registrations from Ghana - Bug INST-763: Group: All associate members suddenly being banned by system. - INST-770: Turning Off Your Profile Takes Down All Blog and Group Posts
New Bug - UPDATE: FIXED
- PAGE-4788: Blogs and Groups: Table Codes and Font Codes Not Displaying Correctly (yes, I know this one is super ugly - if your blog looks weird, it's because of this)
Your Feedback:
You guys noticing any changes you want addressed? Post them here.
